Week 18 - Fading Light

Fading Light

In many ways, quite a similar photo to one taken just three weeks ago . Light on the landscape at dusk. It's no secret that we often return to the same subjects.

While images can be similar, their alignment with our moods and activity create subtle differences. For example, week #15 was of a working environment taken during a long walk.

This week is again a structure with sunlight illuminating the foreground. But it is slightly later in the day and a more relaxing moment - before dinner in the village of Juromenha with two Anas. My wife and a friend.

As usual, it would be a very different photo in color. In black and white, the contrast between the bands of light and sky becomes dominant. The shape and lines of the house add a sense of order.

The row of like-sized trees on the right side contributes to the order and balance. The trees' distance, shape, and tone also provide depth and contrast against the house.

These moments of light are fleeting. The grass was in complete shadow just seconds later.
