Week 24 - Slow Motion

Slow Motion

A narrow winding street has the same visual appeal to me as a forest trail, although the two settings could not be more different. Indeed the latter is more peaceful. Yet both have dominant lines and a distant vanishing path that add depth and order to a photograph.

In the woods, the bark of the trees adds texture. Here it is, the cobbled street. These shared qualities are more evident in black and white than would be demonstrated in color.

While considering a potential image, I heard a motorcycle approaching from well behind me. Quickly adjusting the shutter speed allowed capturing the energy of a moving object - giving the scene life. But, of course, the trade-off is that the rest of the image is not tack-sharp.

Like week #6 of this series, we often find the stage and wait for a player. However, in this case, the wait was only a moment.
